(WASHINGTON, September 9, 2024) – The Cargo Airline Association (CAA), the leading advocacy organization for the air cargo industry, aligned with a broad coalition of over 70 industry groups to express serious concerns about the NextNav petition to reorganize the Lower 900 MHz Band. The coalition warned that any reorganization could significantly impact the functionality and reliability of existing devices and systems across multiple sectors.
In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the coalition underscored the critical role that Part 15 unlicensed devices, operating within the Lower 900 MHz, play in critical infrastructure, security systems and supply chain and transportation technologies, and how they are utilized by the private and public sectors to benefit consumers, customers and the broader public.
The coalition letter, led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, stressed the severe unintended consequences for unlicensed users of the Lower 900 MHz Band if the reorganization proceeded. These established users span sectors, including agriculture, energy, government, healthcare, retail, technology, telecommunications, transportation, and utilities.
